Eucalyptus globulus, commonly known as southern blue gum, is a tall, evergreen tree native to southeastern Australia, demonstrating rapid growth and adaptability to various conditions. Reaching a height of 45 meters, the tree features smooth bark with a white to cream-colored appearance. Its lance-shaped or curved leaves are arranged alternately, and the woody, conical fruit has valves near the rim. The timber, characterized by a yellow-brown color and substantial weight, bears interlocked grain, posing challenges for seasoning. Despite this, it finds applications in construction, imparting flavor, and exhibiting antimicrobial and biopesticide properties. Encouraging farmers or farmer groups in remote areas to undertake large-scale Eucalyptus plantations can unlock its manifold benefits. Impact in Numbers  Carbon Fixed  250 Kgs per tree. CO₂ reduction from the atmosphere by 900 Kg per tree. Increase in farmers’ income by 2500 per tree upon maturity. Economic Value to the Farmers Eucalyptus trees exhibit rapid growth, serving diverse purposes such as pulp production, oil extraction, and applications in medicine and pharmaceutical companies. This allows farmers to cultivate and quickly sell these trees in the market within a few years. Following the cutting of the bamboo trunk, new leaves sprout swiftly, enabling farmers to achieve a second harvest without additional investments. This contributes significantly to improving the living conditions and income of the farmers. About the Project  Once the project team distributes eucalyptus saplings to the farmers, they actively receive the necessary technical knowledge to successfully cultivate and sell tamarind. This long-term initiative provides ongoing support to the farmers for a duration of 3 years, ensuring assistance until the tamarind trees bear fruit. Additionally, farmers are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to grow Eucalyptus trees and effectively market their produce. The project aims to empower farmers, enabling them to capitalize on the economic potential of Eucalyptus cultivation. Through this comprehensive support system, farmers can establish sustainable livelihoods and achieve long-term economic prosperity. Technology Furthermore, the project team actively geotags the trees, ensuring precise tracking of their locations using GPS technology to accurately mark the area boundary. They diligently capture and securely store farmer details, including relevant images, through mobile apps directly from the field. This comprehensive data collection process enables the project to maintain a robust database. Additionally, the project calculates the yearly carbon fixation by employing expert-developed equations specific to different tree species within the app. These calculations are then integrated into detailed reports, providing valuable insights into the project’s environmental impact. Throughout the entire data acquisition, storage, and analysis process, the project maintains total transparency, ensuring the reliability and integrity of the information collected. This commitment to transparency allows for informed decision-making and effective monitoring of the project’s progress. Impact assessment Particularly, the project team actively measures the impact it creates for both wildlife and farmers. Regularly capturing data at defined intervals ensures a comprehensive assessment of the project’s effects. The team then carefully analyzes this data by comparing it with the previous data collected on the same parameters calculated a few months ago. They precisely measure the observed changes against the planned results, enabling an accurate evaluation of progress and effectiveness. Furthermore, this systematic monitoring allows for a deeper understanding of the project’s outcomes and facilitates informed decision-making. By comparing the current data with past records, the project can identify trends, successes, and areas for improvement. This process ensures that the project remains on track and enables the necessary adjustments to achieve the desired results. Reports The project reports are prepared and sent to the contributors. The report covers the following – 1) Trees status as of the last visit made 2) Any mortality in the trees planted 3) Carbon fixed in MT from the start of the project 4) Economic impact on the farmers. 5) Ecological impact created.   To plant various types of trees, click HERE   Greenverz Solutions Private Limited is a Land Restoration and tree plantation company that is involved in tree plantations in rural area as well as urban areas and cities.
